As the second-largest island in Thailand, Koh Samui is a popular beach destination among holidaymakers and international explorers alike. More particularly, the archipelago is known to attract massive crowds to its idyllic sandy shores each year.
But aside from Koh Samui’s most well-known beaches à la Chaweng, Lamai, Maenam, and Bophut, there are a number of off-the-beaten-path spots on the island which also masquerades as the perfect secret beach getaway.
The beautiful yet hidden stretch of pristine sandy shoreline known as Silver Beach comes to mind.
A Nondescript Beach Experience At Silver Beach
The easy-to-miss Silver Beach is a hidden gem nestled between the ever-popular beaches of Chaweng and Lamai. Like all the other beaches on the island, the 250-metre long Silver Beach sports a soft sandy strip washed by clear turquoise waters.
The difference? Silver Beach offers a rather quieter atmosphere compared to its other Koh Samui beach brethren.
The name of this beach comes courtesy of the silver-like shine which is the result of a combination of illumination by the bright tropical sun on the near-pure-white sandy facade of Silver Beach.
And while this beach is decently sized, it can still very well accommodate plenty of visitors — as evident by the four established hotels and restaurants found within the vicinity of the beach. However, you don’t necessarily have to stay at any of these establishments to gain access to Silver Beach. Here, you may sunbathe, swim, or snorkel freely.
Speaking of which, snorkelling is the go-to activity at Silver Beach. The waters here are home to some of the most fascinating sea life in the region. And the fact that there are hardly any waves here is the icing on top of the cake.
